Teaching with the videos

In class, we play a video one part at a time and explain each concept, sometimes pausing mid-part to settle a conceptual question. We then turn to the slides for the details and work through worksheet questions with the students at the whiteboard. A silent page between two parts of a video names the slide where the next part starts, so that you can pause there and open the slides. The videos are in one YouTube playlist.

Materials for instructors

Problem sets with solutions, worksheet solutions, and past exams are available to instructors on request. Please email yiqingxu@stanford.edu from your institutional address, name the course you teach, and do not post the solutions publicly.

Building and adapting the slides

Each lecture’s folder in the repository holds the LaTeX Beamer source, the figures, the R scripts that draw them, and the data the scripts read. All lectures share one template, lectures/course_preamble.tex and lectures/course_theme.tex, and every R script uses the shared figure style in lectures/course_figures.R. You need TeX Live 2023 or later and R 4.x. The README has the build commands.
